STEMCorps4MHEALTH

learning, serving & MAKING A DIFFERENCE..

.. SAFEr HOLISTIC LIving .. BEYOND COVID!

The STEMCorps4mHealth initiative is a catalyst for the formation of model innovation hubs around which a network of independent local community health collaboratories (clubs/groups) bring together young people from diverse social backgrounds (incl. youth, 13-18, and their families; and college-age to early career adults, 19-34 yr olds); STEM educators in health fields; and health providers along with the communities they serve, for the purpose of changing the world by undertaking barrier-breaking Ubuntu humanism-inspired service-/project-based health improvement programs. More specifically, the emphasis of STEMCorps4mHealth is on improving health & wellness ( UN Sustainable Development Goal #3 -SDG3 ) through people-to-people (sister communities/clubs) projects across social divides such as socioeconomics, faiths and even (inter)national boundaries, holistically combining COVID-safe team-building recreational/social activities and STEM (science, technology, engineering & maths) innovations.

The particular focus on improving health outcomes through STEM involves developing &/or deploying Digital Health Innovations (DHI) cosponsored by GHF360 & IEPH and demonstrations thereof facilitated by Epidemiology, Analytics & Service-/Project-Based (e)Learning (EASel) in independent study &/or university-affiliated experiential courses. Alumni of HSY service-/project-based e-learning design training program & other interested parties can also purchase a clone of this site to accelerate establishment of similar innovation hubs &/or local community health collaboratories (clubs/groups).

*NOTE: University-affiliation of service-/project-based learning in STEM (science, technology, engineering & maths) projects spearheaded by HSY Corps4Health may also be leveraged by middle-high school and university students to earn college/university course credit through independent study elective courses offered by colleges/universities to students enrolled in degree & non-degree courses (students, young/early career adults & older lifelong learners). In addition to those enrolled in college/university courses, earning university/college-credit for courses taken this way can also be leveraged by dual-enrollment programs for Middle-to-High School advanced placement or distinguished honor roll students to concurrently earn High School credit. While HSY Corps4Health does not directly offer such college credit, the HSY Corps4Health model innovation hub showcases replicable examples and resources incl. guidance and online forums for info exchange/strategizing on this aspect for middle-high school & university students.

RECREATION

Learn about interactive outdoor socially-distanced team-building recreational/social activities at your local parks that you can organize regularly with friends.

As all the examples of team-building recreational/social activities below can be socially-distanced (at least 6-8 ft apart), outdoors &/or online, independent local community health collaboratories (clubs/groups) can decide for themselves whether to make masks and vaccination optional unless required/recommended by local regulations. STEMCorps4mHealth clubs/groups featured on this site must be inclusive and accommodate those with health conditions/concerns needing social distancing, and must also always meet (or exceed) local requirements, no less. While outdoors, interactive socially distanced activities may even blend in-person and online participation (with on-site parental presence for youth <18) to increase inclusivity for those with health conditions/concerns that preclude close contact; this also applies to STEMCorps4mHealth clubs/groups convened as an extension of team building in global partnerships in STEM project clubs incorporating people-to-people interaction. Additional general & COVID-safety precautions are outlined under terms of participation in team-building recreational/social activities & project clubs/groups.
